Candace in Wonderland

Candace in Wonderland is the artistic project of Nashville-based artist and writer Candace Matthews. Inspired by the surreal, she brought the moniker to life in 2019 as her sound began shaping a vibrant, whimsical world.

Her colorful, quirky music blends dreamy bedroom pop with elements of grungy emo pop-rock, funk, and even hints of jazz—resulting in a unique sound she likes to call “dreamo pop.” With deeply personal and authentic lyrics, Candace tells stories inspired by dreams and psychedelic concepts in a casual, conversational style. Layered with lush harmonies and catchy melodies, her sound creates an immersive, otherworldly experience.

Drawing influence from artists like Paramore, Billie Eilish, and Remi Wolf, Candace has built a distinct identity—one that’s as visually dynamic as it is sonically. Known for changing her hair color with each release, she brings her evolving aesthetic to life through her ever-expanding musical universe.

Her music has already landed sync placements on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, MTV, and VH1. She’s also been spotlighted on the Spotify Editorial playlist Fresh Finds Pop!, further cementing her place as an exciting rising artist to watch.

Teacher’s Pet

Imagine a world where you root for the villain of the story. Enter Teacher's Pet, the darker, more daring alter ego of Candace Brown, known artistically as Candace In Wonderland. With Teacher's Pet, Candace explores a bold, edgy style distinct from her previous work, drawing inspiration from artists like Billie Eilish, UPSAHL, and Ashnikko. Teacher's Pet seamlessly blends the emotionally charged cinematic genre with the audacious flair of dark pop.

Creating music as Teacher's Pet empowers Candace to express an unapologetic side of herself that she typically struggles to embrace. This transformation resonates deeply, not just with Candace, but also with her audience. Teacher's Pet embodies chaotic liberation and fierce, bad b*tch energy, cementing herself as a central figure in the Candace In Wonderland musical landscape.
