Bell Plaines is the musical works of filmmaker and director Spencer Gentz. By day, Spencer directs music videos and commercials, working with bands such as The Shins, Nada Surf, Portugal. The Man, Chris Staples, Telekinesis, The Mimicking Birds, Pure Bathing Culture, and others. After hours and between film projects, Spencer writes and records music under the name Bell Plaines. 

Originally starting out scoring projects at film school in Portland in the mid 00’s, Bell Plaines began to take shape. Soon thereafter, he garnered the attention of legendary producer Chris Walla, of Death Cab for Cutie. Walla began spinning Bell Plaines songs while hosting guest spots on radio stations, featuring Bell Plaines in several large online magazine write ups. 

Bell Plaines soon found its way to receiving award winning placements in TV, film, and advertising worldwide. Spencer’s music has been used by clients such as Patagonia, Hurley, Nike, Google, Adobe, REI, YETI, Infiniti Motor Company, Lincoln, Marmot, and many others.
